When my wife and I moved here Harry was the Mayor of Yachats, and Harry and his wife were our neighbors. He would feed hundreds of birds every morning while his wife Millie was busy shooing them away. Harry was the little guy who virtually every day fed the birds and seagulls at our little park on the point.
Harry died one day short of his 80th birthday and he and Millie had been married for almost 51 years.
Harry graduated from UCLA, and went on to work for the U.S. Goverment. He was an accountant but he was a lot of other things as well. He was a teacher for some time and was in the service during the second World War. Harry was shot down over Europe and he was in a prisoner of war camp. He retired as a Major in the Air Force.
My wife, Sha and I couldn't have had better neighbors and we well miss Harry a great deal. Good-by Harry, and God Bless.
