Event Date Friday April 30.
World class Reggae music comes to the Oregon Coast when the “Reggae Mylitis Salutes Peter Tosh” music tour sets up at the Yachats Commons Friday April 30. This 40-city tour features Andrew Tosh along with The Tosh Band and
The Reggae Angels This show is a tribute to Peter Tosh who along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, formed Reggae’s first great vocal trio The Wailers in 1962, which helped popularize and spread the Reggae message and music from Jamaica to the world. This is the only Oregon Coast performance.
Andrew Tosh, son of the late Peter Tosh, is carrying on his father’s name and music, with a startlingly familiar voice and roots reggae style. Says Andrew, “I tell myself that Peter Tosh is gone, and it’s my need to carry on. Not for want, and not for the lust of fame… No, for the love of my art and the love of my people, because love carry no color.” In contrast to the Dancehall Reggae style, which often emulates the violence and material aspirations of commercial Rap music, the Roots Reggae style still embodies the desire for peace and harmony. This show will premiere Andrew’s latest release, “Andrew Sings Tosh He Never Died,” a tribute to his father. This new cd was produced by Bunny Wailer, and will be released April 20 and available on the tour.
