Douglas Adams: Author, Futurist, Humorist, and Lecturer.

Born in Cambridge, England, in 1952. He has written for radio, tevision and theater and has worked as a hospital reporter, barn builder, radio producer, and script editor.

May 14 — Sci-fi humorist Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy novels, died on Friday. He was 49.

Adams, apparently suffered a massive heart attack while working out at a gym near his Santa Barbara, Calif., home, it was announced on Saturday.
